High Resolution Photogrammetry and Texturing
High-resolution photogrammetry is a 3D acquisition technique that uses photographs to create realistic and detailed 3D models.
In the VFX field, high-resolution photogrammetry is used to generate 3D models of real locations for use in films, TV series, and video games.
Once the images are captured, photogrammetry software identifies corresponding points between the images and reconstructs a 3D point cloud.
This is then used to generate a mesh, representing the surface of the location onto which a texture is applied.

DMPs are predominantly used in the film industry and video games to enable the representation of landscapes, and it remains a technique in continuous evolution, with new software and techniques being developed continuously.
